As i discussed earlier i am having problems with getting the video done due to outside conflicts and things going wrong. I cant get the people i wanted to get to tape because of their scheduals and mine and their works wont let me tape them.
So as of right now im going to do a few interview with those i know i can talk to and then go through and add soem b-roll to the interviews about what they are talking about so tis going to more of an interview process rather than a documentary. By next week i should have a sample of the interview and some of the b-roll i am going to do....
Any suggestions on what all i should include since i am having problems getting everything i wanted?

The Process: Part 1
I have began to video tape these families that i have chosen for this project and ran into a large problem. The Children. It seems that when you put a camera in the room they are drawn to it and want to play with it. I also tried to use a second camera but the kids moved from room to room to easily. So my next step is to get a purse or something so the kids cant see that i have a video camera. Something i can move from place to place without the kids really knowing.
Anyone have any ideas?
I would like to get this process going again so i can begin to edit the Video but the problem with the kids is something i have to get fixed first. by next week i want to have some small video's to post up to give you an idea of what im taping.

Final Step to Development Process
After much thoughts i have decided that the script i want to be somewhat scripted but i also what them to have the freedom of showing me how their life really is. I think the natural way they do things will help make the store even more interesting.
The Shots i want to be very dramatic and really show their point of view. like for the children i want you to be on their level so you understand where they are comming from and how they see things. They look up to the Adults in their shots showing how small they are and that they are still growing and learning from their souroundings.
As for the Coke Bottle... i know these people im going to film very well and i know for a fact that each of the will drink 1 coke a day. and they will nurse this coke all day long and its what gets them through the days. i also like the suggestion of the list. This will show how they try and stay organized and make sure everyhting gets done but in the end it never does.
My post process color palette i want to look very contrasty like Rachael getting Married. I want it to be both warm and cool where the home life is very warm colors to show warmth and comfort while the work scenes are very cool and feel starel and not so loved. This will show how important the home life is to the mothers.

design for media part 2 second post
So far i have the basic story i want to try and follow...
The video begins with an shot of three different alarm clocks set to different times depending on what time of day that mother starts her day. From these shots you will zoom back just as the alarms go off and you see the mother waking up and her routine begins. They get themselves ready and begin to get the children up and ready to start the morning. (no matter how early it is... most mothers always try and get their kids up and ready before they leave)
This entire time you are cutting back and fourth between houses while and narrative is being given to explain what the movie is about and what is going on.
you then see all the kids at the table with the parents eating breakfast (if this is a normal routine for this family) Then you see a boy getting on the bus as he goes to school. and you cut back to a shot of the mother waving good bye to the son and he goes off into the distance on the bus. The mother then kisses everyone else good bye and grabs her daily coke out of the fridge and goes and gets in the car.
You see the car driving off into the distance and next thing you know we are at the work of the mother's and you see them walking into the building. Then you cut to a scene inside of the coke bottle sitting on the counter where it will be left most of the day.
during the daily routine you will see parts of the interview with each of the husbands and how it has changed their daily routine now that the mother is working.
you go the day following the mother around and seeing the various things she does and you cut form scene to scene of different things each mother does and while this is going on you hear the mothers interview and maybe even get some of the interview while they are working so they are working and talking to you at the same time.
Every so often you check back at the coke bottle and get a shot of it and in the final movie you will see the time each of the bottles was taken. should be the same time for each mother and maybe show a scene where you can see all three bottles to see the difference.
from work you go home and begin to see the nightly routine and what goes on. gettingt he homework done. making sure the home schooled kids get their work done. making sure the house is cleaned and everyone gets dinner. then its off to baths and bed. Show each of the bedtime routines based on how old the kids are and if its easy for the mothers or not.
At this time you will see many interview with b-roll that match what each person says. since i dont know what they are going to say that will have to hopefully match up later.
the last scene you will see is the coke bottle in the trash and you cut back to the alarm clocks to show what time the mother finally gets some time to herself and talk to her about her feelings and how she thinks each day goes and what she misses the most about being home.

Designer Part 1
I am not quite sure what exactly i am supposed to post this week. as of right now im still trying to work out a time when i can shadow these people for a day at their jobs. I am trying to put together a story but as of right now its not comming together right. by next week i hope to have a completed story board and maybe some sample images of how im going to make the video work.
I am really trying to work the progression of the coke bottle throughout the day in all of their lives. And as much as i can think right now it should work...
this is not what i expected to have done this week but i came down with the flu this weekend and i have had double ear infections since last thursday so not quite myself lately... but i am doing much better and hope to have more by next week...

Research Part 3
Jonathan Demme is on of my favorite Documentary Directors and really directors in general. I like the movie Rachel Getting Married which was released last year. I like the angels and intensity of his shots. All I could find online is the trailer to show you examples. I like how he shows the people from all types of Families and how they all relate to each other in some way or another.

I want to do this for my documentary by showing all different types of families and how their lives with their kids relate. How the kids always come first and the other stuff comes second.
I really never researched Documentary Directors because I am a photographer and never felt the need to research others but as I began to look through these films that were made by different directors I began to see many similarities in the shots and the way they show things.
With my Documentary I want to tell exactly the toll it takes on families when the mother has to leave for work every day and sometimes are not home when the kids get home from school. I want to compose shots using dramatic angles and natural lighting. I want to get somewhat of the same shots while showing the uniqueness of each of the families.
I am doing both an Narrative and an time-line artist. I want to work frame by frame trying to make it all match in time but I also want to tell you a story so you understand what its like to be a working mom.
Video's i have watched. Just clips. And really enjoy their use of light and the compositions. I like the naturalistic look that you get when shooting not staged films. I like the old look and how everything thing looks real or even home made. I like the look that you get them you are not using a tripod so the movie looks home made like a mom is trying to show exactly how it is from her point and that she wants everyone to know that even though most moms have to work they still care about their children. I dont want people to have a script or even act like their is a camera there. Now with children this is going to be hard so its going to take some time.

Research Part 2
I have been doing more reasearch and have run across a few more things related to what im doing. I have been checking out blogs and other types of information trying to see what the moms think and what they need to keep balanced. this i think will help me better understand what i need to shoot for this video.

the only way i feel up to this task is i have taken video editing classes and already have a certificate from a college during high school where i had to complete a documentary in order to get my certificate so i have done some previous research on how to make a documentary a complete documentary and not leave anything out but i still plan on doing more research on this.
